Adding a weight or a category to your answers allows you to give value to each of your questions. At the end of the survey, an automatic calculation allows you to highlight the results, to give an overall view of the collected answers.
Weight and category are your best allies when it comes to calculating scores, defining personalities or even product preferences.

Category
Assigning a category allows you to group different answer modalities together, in order to define a respondent profile or even to enrich a persona.
Here is a concrete example: you create a personality test for your loyal customers.
- You want to use categories to define several standard profiles.
- To each question asked you assign the profile that best matches. For example: "Pragmatic", "Compulsive" and "Addict".
- At the end of the survey, the most represented category will be calculated automatically. The calculation is based on the number of answer from respondent in each category.

Category setup
Go to Campaigns, then to the page of your survey.
To add categories to existing questions, click on a question and then on the chosen answer modality.
In the Answer Modality Settings, add a category by clicking on Add.
For the example, we have added categories to the answer modalities of the questions "When you walk into a store, you:".
- Class Added: Pragmatic
- Class added: Compulsive
- Class added: Addict
Once the categories have been saved, you can set up scenarios to redirect respondents to the pages corresponding to the profiles (compulsive, pragmatic and addict page).
Note: in the example, the profiles are determined using the categories that have been added previously.
Here, we have chosen to redirect respondents with the pragmatic profile to the pragmatic page (to learn more about the scenarios, click here).
You also have the possibility to set up different actions (to learn more about the actions, click here).
Here, we have chosen to apply a flag to respondents with the addict profile (to learn more about flags, click here).
As soon as a respondent has validated her answer (answer modality with the addict category) then a Flag "Addict" will be applied on this respondent.
Here, we have chosen to notify the respondents by email (to find out more about the notification actions, click here).
Then, we chose to notify the sales team by email.
Finally, we chose to redirect respondents to a promotional page on a website.
Validate your actions.
You have completed the configuration of your categories, prepared different survey scenarios and implemented post-feedback actions.
For weights, the principle is equivalent, let's see what's different.

The weight
Assigning different answer modalities allows you to calculate a result, based on a sum/average of given answers.
Let's take another concrete case: you create a knowledge quiz to make sure that your customers have followed their training.
- You will assign a weight to each answer: whether it is right/false or important/unimportant.
- Based on your customers' feedback, you can direct them to a specific question or page while they answer
- Also, at the end of the survey you can choose an action to take based on the score obtained
- The final score is calculated automatically. It will be weighted according to the weight you have assigned to each answer.
Note: when you passed the Skeepers Academy online, the survey was fully done with Skeepers. In fact, to determine if you have filled in the correct answer to each question, weights have been configured on each of the answer modalities to calculate and provide you with your final score. We also configured post-feedback actions based on the results obtained.

Weight setup
As before, to add weights to existing questions, click on a question and then on the chosen modality.
In the Parameters of the answer modality, enter a weight in the corresponding box.
For the example, we have entered a "-100" weight for the first two answer modalities because these are not the expected answers.
- Configured weight: -100
- Configured weight: -100
Finally, for the third answer modality, the weight "100" is filled in, which makes it possible to identify the correct answer. Thus when the respondent chooses this answer, the score assigned is 100 and not -100.
- Configured weight: 100
When the respondent chooses answer 3 (with a weight of 100 assigned) then you will know that they have chosen the right answer, otherwise it will mean that they have chosen the wrong answer.
Don't forget to Validate once your items are fully configured.
You can now setup scenarios and actions based on the weights entered.
